YouTube Stars Predict The Oscars On ‘What’s Trending?’

YouTube stars are well versed in a lot of subjects, from music to vlogging to gaming. However, a recent video from What’s Trending? makes it clear that there is at least one subject YouTubers know very little about: The Oscars. A host of known names have given their predictions for Sunday’s ceremony, and Wheezy Waiter‘s quote on the Best Documentary category best sums up every star’s prognostication: “That’s my prediction and I’m right…or wrong.”

The highlights of the video include Chester See insisting that Norah Jones will win for Best Original Song as if no one else is nominated, OlgaKay pitching for Anna Karenina‘s costumes while dressed in a giant lizard suit, and Grace Helbig insisting Jennifer Lawrence will win Best Actress for no reason other than her amazing rack. There are a few solid opinions in there: Streamys winner Tony Valenzuela

makes a good point about Beasts of the Southern Wild‘s lack of a nomination in the Cinematography category, and Hal Rudnick of Screen Junkies gives a hilarious and impassioned speech proving that Django Unchained, despite using the n word 180 times, is the only Original Screenplay nominee that can truly be called original.

There are appearances from several other notables, including MysteryGuitarMan, Ashley Clements of Lizzie Bennet Diaries, and Rooster Teeth, but most of the predictions are the same. YouTube stars may enjoy movies, but something tells me they shouldn’t quit their totally awesome day jobs. Beth Hoyt is the exception; her Tilda Swinton impression, complete with British accent, belongs in a comedy club.
