‘Ugly Betty’ Star Michael Urie, $1000 Prize Headline Tubefilter Meetup

You may have caught wind of this from browsing our website, but just in case you’re still in the dark, I’m happy to let you know that Tubefilter will be hosting another exciting Tubefilter Meetup, the latest in our ongoing series of targeted online video discussions.

The meetup will take place on Tuesday, December 4th, at Busby’s East in La Brea. Doors open at 7 pm, the panel and Q&A sessions will begin at 7:45, and there will be a networking mixer once the event has concluded (around 8:45).

If you’ve never been to a Tubefilter meetup before, you can expect a lively panel of guests who will discuss a singular theme. This edition’s theme is the rise of pay-to-view models, as our panelists will try to answer the question, “Will viewers pay to watch online video?” With the recent rise of pay-to-view programs such as the Jon Stewart/Bill O’Reilly debate and the slate of LGBT-oriented content at tello, this has become a very pertinent subject.

You can RSVP for the event here. The panelists will be:

Fittingly, the event is sponsored by distribution platform Chill, who have built the Chill Direct service to support pay-to-view offerings. The upcoming Maria Bamford comedy special will be distributed through Chill Direct, so expect to hear about that program throughout the course of the discussion.

During the event, there will be a $1,000 giveaway in the form of a gift certificate to Division Camera. For all you creators out there, think of this giveaway as a chance to jumpstart your career by purchasing some high end equipment. If you’re not a creator, well, hey. It’s still a thousand bucks. With that big ol’ chuck of change on the line, you’ve got plenty of incentive to show up. After all, if you win, you’ll have plenty of money to spend on pay-to-view offerings.

Once again, RSVP here, and we hope to see you at Busby’s East on December 4th!
