Zach Anner Hits The Road In ‘Riding Shotgun’

Zach Anner came to national attention back in 2010 when he participated in Oprah Winfrey’s Your OWN Show contest by releasing a video stating the reasons he should be the next big thing in TV. Anner has cerebral palsy, and he quickly became an Internet favorite. Thanks to our fervent support, Anner won Oprah’s contest; now, he’s rolling along with a new show. Anner has released the first episode of Riding Shotgun

, in which he, his brother, and two of their friends go on a road trip across the US (and Canada).

Reddit will play a big role in Riding Shotgun. Anner has his own subreddit, where fans previously voted for the cities they wanted Anner to visit during his trip. After Anner picked out eight choices from the nominees, fans were then encouraged to post the highlights of their favorite cities so that Zach would know what to check out on his journey. Zach and his friends started their journey in Montreal, where they followed suggestions from Reddit users, seeking out burlesque dancers and poutine gravy.

The true spirit of Riding Shotgun, however, centers around the thrill of being on the road with a bunch of friends. Whether it’s reading 50 Shades of Gray during the drive or butting into a photo session for an engaged couple, Anner and his pals are only focusing on having a good time. Heck, even Anner admits that the show isn’t particularly structured. Whatever happens, happens.

Riding Shotgun has already posted four episodes, with three more coming every week. Few comedians are as unique as Zach Anner, and if you want to see someone succeed who is, by all accounts, a great guy, then be sure to give his show plenty of traffic.
