Celebs to Boogie All Night On ‘Dancing With the Stars: After Party’

Despite being one of the most popular shows on TV, ABC‘s Dancing With The Stars didn’t quite live up to its usual superb ratings last season. With 14 competitions already in the books, can you blame the viewership for beginning to get tired of watching B-list celebrities shake it like a Polaroid picture? ABC, however, seems to be aware of this fatigue. That’s why, in addition to bringing back old favorites for season 15, Dancing With The  Stars will also introduce a half-hour web show after each of this season’s episodes, titled After Party.

The show will be split into several segments, all of them co-hosted by reporter, guac aficionado, and typing champion Marc Istook alongside Real Housewives diva Joanna Krupa, who competed on the program in season 9. In addition, actor Kyle Massey, who was runner-up on season 11 of DWTS, will go behind-the-scenes of the show, a place that the show hasn’t been afraid to go in the past

. After Party will also serve as a space for expert analysis of the week’s dance pairs and encore performances for fan favorites from seasons past.

DWTS premieres this upcoming Monday, so expect the first episode of After Party to follow right behind. The show will be hosted on DWTS‘ official website along with its Facebook page and its sparsely-used YouTube channel. The first episode is set to feature Elena Grinenko, a dancer who appeared on several seasons of the show with limited success (though I’m sure it’s hard to dance with Tucker Carlson, who is constantly leaning to the right). She will be joined by fellow dancer Lacey Schwimmer, who was Massey’s partner on the show.

After Party is a good way to expand the show’s audience, and it comes at the right time. Season 15 will be an All-Star edition of DWTS, bringing back old favorites like Apolo Ohno and Bristol Palin. With After Party, ABC can keep the franchise’s ratings high by bringing back anyone who was ever anyone on the show instead of being limited to the showcasing the 13 celebrity returnees on the main show. With all of the star power present, fans are sure to shuffle on over to the After Party when DWTS‘ first episode concludes this Monday.
