Funny or Die, Tim and Eric’s ‘Billion Dollar Movie’ Released Online

Funny or Die is the online video destination founded by Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, and Judd Apatow that functions as a repository for comedy-inclined video content and playground for Hollywood celebrities who want the public to know they don’t take themselves too seriously. It’s also one of the few online video destinations with its own production arm interested in making long-form content. Today, it becomes one of the only online video destinations with a production arm that’s produced a major motion picture that’s available for viewing online.

Tim and Eric’s Billion Dollar Movie is up for rent on iTunes, a full month and change before it hits theaters on March 2nd. Dr. Steve Brule probably prescribes you a healthy viewing. A few dozen people at Sundance would advise against consumption. Those are both very good reasons you should pony up $10 and give this flick a watch.

Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job! creators and frontmen Tim Heidecker and Eric Wareheim star as two down-and-out failed movie producers looking to recoup their failed movie investors’ investments by rehabilitating a bankrupt mall full of an eclectic cast of characters (who are played by a stellar cameo cast comprised of Zach Galifianakis, Jeff Goldblum, John C. Reilly, Will Ferrell, and more recognizable names and faces).

There’s no Tomato Meter Score just yet, but judging by the reaction to the premiere, if you’re a fan of Adult Swim and/or wish Brad Neely was still creating videos for SuperDeluxe, you’re going to love it. And if the film does well, expect to see more feature length productions from Funny or Die in the near future.
