That’s the premise of Kids React to Viral Videos, a new web series out from Benny and Rafi Fine (The Fine Brothers) this weekend. Already the first episode is over 100,000 views.
For the most of opening episodes, it was pleasantly surprising how astute these youngsters are, casting a critical eye on some of the more inane videos to strike viral gold. But things descend into the more familiar terrifying zone when topical questions about what the President actually does or what we should do about terrorism.
One of the kids did manage to blurt out, “Shane Dawson!” despite his videos not actually being part of the test group. Yes, kids do in fact love the shaggy-haired YouTuber.
“It’s another example of how we continue to find new forms of content to engage web audiences,” the Fine Brothers told us of the new project. “This series continues to showcase our eclectic range of comedy we’ve been creating for over 6 years online, and is a series we will be releasing new episodes of on a steady basis.” Future episodes will feature “other classic viral videos of the past,” along with what the kids taking suggestions from the Fine Brothers 500k+ YouTube subscribers.
Now all we need is Kids Re-Enact Viral Videos. (Landline TV, I’m looking at you guys.)
