Just three months shy of her third year anniversary in front of the camera on one of the internet’s most profound web series, Joanne Colan has left Rocketboom.
When the former MTV VJ took over hosting responsibilities on July 12, 2006 after a dispute between Rocketboom creator Andrew Baron and original host Amanda Congdon left the show without a frontwoman, the gig was only supposed to be temporary. Literally hundreds of episodes later (and one previous greatly exaggerated departure), it finally became time for the internet-pop-culture program and Joanne to part ways.
I’m told Joanne’s departure was amicable and Andrew’s post on the matter doesn’t lead me to believe otherwise:
Today I am so sad to say farewell to Joanne from Rocketboom! Joanne was really, really excellent at what she did here, she will be missed. Keep your eyes open for announcements from Joanne on what’s next for her! And stay tuned for more from Rocketboom…
I’m also told that regularly scheduled programming will continue, uninterrupted on Monday. No news yet on who Joanne’s replacement will be, but stay tuned…
