Review of Bleeding Edge TV

Gear Live is an online publication with a blog and vlog for the tech savvy. It’s part of the network of websites owned by technology lifestyle and shopping guide I4U. Bleeding Edge is the video component of Gear Live, which began in spring 2006 and has had a prolific amount of updates and fresh daily content ever since. Editor and co-host Andru Edwards is something of a blog expert, contributing as a founding editorr for blogs like TV Envy, Unboxing, Food Squeeze, Seattle Mind Camp, and Endscore, among several others.

Andru and his host of co-hosts and contributors – including Jesse Easley, Oscar Cantu, Kristin Wenzel, and Greg Norton, among others – review new gadgets for about five to seven minutes in videos that are released weekly. When they’re not having a two-person panel discussion in front of the garish orange background that’s been a constant on their set, the

team treks out to conventions, studios, and offices. It’s a moderately low budget series that gives detailed evaluations of products that range from obscure to mainstream. There are a lot of online shows like this, but Bleeding Edge does indeed have the edge since their episodes are updated regularly, and are easily categorized by product tags, so you can find exactly what you’re looking for. The site also straddles that fine line between colloquial banter and technical detail, where as most shows rely too much on one or the other.

Episode 56 is a good summary of what this show is about: humor, industry knowledge, and crazy tech culture, all brought together in a format that’s easy to digest. Also check out their Mind Camp wrap-up, to get a very good idea of what it’s like to attend the “unconforence”.
