Mahalo Daily, the 4-per-week webshow associated with search and discovery site Mahalo, launched today. I’ve said that I hope the show lives up to its promo, and the first installment certainly does. It features a stimulating topic — the Tesla Roadster — with a quick, informative, non-pretentious presentation and, most importantly, a charming, tech-savvy host who’s just cute-as-buttons.
Belmont is a former host and producer from CNET ###who jumped to the internet for a better gig offered by Mahalo founder Jason Calacanis.
The show follows the proven internet model to a tee: almost-daily, endearing female host, a tech-but-not-too-tech slanted topic in about five minutes.
Belmont’s charm comes across strongest in conversation, so we’re betting the differentiation point will be videos in the field with interesting personalities, as opposed to a talking head in a studio under images of funky websites which, to be honest, is getting a bit old…even for quirky internet culture.
So, when you’re looking for your fill of quirky and cool culture, what’ll it be? Rocketboom or BoingBoing or Epic Fu or Mahalo Daily? Not a bad menu.
