New Episode of DriveTime

DriveTime is one of my favorite vlogs and it’s one that you probably haven’t heard about. It’s a regional art vlog that takes place in a car. The only way it could get any more underground is if the car was in an underground parking garage.

What I like most is that it’s laidback. Each week, Boston-based artist Ravi Jain (Raviblog) and his wife Sonia get into their Nissan (which is lovingly named Studio V), attach their video camera onto rearview mirror, and drive over to a friendly local artist for some talking and some driving.

This week’s episode coincides with the kickoff of Boston’s two-week Cyberarts Festival

. Ravi and Sonia pick up the festival’s director and founder George Fifield and hold him hostage in their paddywagon of artistic discourse long enough to show a clip Fifield borrowed from the festival’s partnering Visual Music Marathon.

I have to admit, though, that it’s the banter that brings me back. Which is why the best part of the interview is what comes after the interview when George is out of the car: “The Case of the Missing Fitness Water.”
