A Green Vlog Round-up

In light of yesterday’s Sprig launch, it seems like an apt time to highlight some of the best green vlogs on the market. So here’s a few of our favorites:

Treehugger TV is the video arm of the original Treehugger site, which started in July 2004. The online magazine is updated daily with a surplus of both written and video content. Unlike Sprig, it’s tailored to the green community rather than the potentially or occasionally green. But, like Sprig, there’s a strong focus on design and shopping for products that are as attractive as they are environmentally sound. With news and social networking included, it’s easily one of the best green sites out there. (Read more here.)

G Living Network is another great resource. It shares similar goals with Treehugger; catering to the already green, the site aims to bring stylish and design-oriented suggestions to an audience ready for designer organic cotton. Both sites also share a heavy emphasis on news and current events. It’s only been around since last summer, but it has a wealth of editorial content, both written and video, that consistently proves that the network is worth watching on a regular basis. Lime also boasts daily written and video content, but it leans heavily toward  video since the company was initially a television outset before being purchased by Steve Case in 2005. The network, whose tagline is “Healthy Living with a Twist,” seems to be the most direct competition to Sprig. Although it does focus on some of the more advanced lifestyle choices like green kitchen remodeling and probiotics, it’s not necessarily a green network. The focus here is beginning and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with exercise, mental rigor, and, occasionally, greener choices. (Read more here.)

DH Love Life is the dark horse of the lot. Started by Darryl Hannah in 2006, the site’s editorial staff uses the iconic actress’ name and passion for change to reach a wider audience with tips on truly being green. It began as a weekly vlog, but has since turned into a mountain of activism, nutrition, and environmental resources with regional and local news not covered by even the most underground green news sites.
