While YouTube viewers across the globe have their eyes on the 2026 World Cup, many Indians are focused on the teachings of Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. That YouTube channel reached #1 in our Global Sub Top 50 after its namesake guru added 1.3 million new subscribers during the second week of July.

I guess that’s what happens when the world’s most populous nation fails to qualify for the biggest soccer tournament on planet earth. Fortunately for the sports fans, plenty of their favorite channel are following right behind Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.
Norway’s star strikes scores on the pitch and on YouTube
Soccer fans know that Erling Braut Haaland always scores. The imposing striker has already scored more than 300 professional goals, and he’s still just 25 years old.
As it turns out, the phrase “Haaland always scores” doesn’t just apply to the pitch — it’s also accurate when referring to YouTube. While the 6’5″ Norwegian led his country to a quarterfinal appearance in the World Cup, he shared snippets of his experience in the U.S. via vlogs he uploaded to his official YouTube channel. One of those vlogs, which covers Norway’s upset victory against Brazil, needed only five days to collect 8.7 million views.
Haaland might be as much of a rising star on YouTube as he is in the world soccer scene. During the second week of July, he added 860,000 new subscribers, reaching eighth place in the Global Sub Top 50.
He’s hardly the only footballer making noise on YouTube. Norway’s vanquishers, England, are led by Jude Bellingham, who’s quite the vlogger himself. If Spain wins the Cup, star player Lamine Yamal could celebrate alongside Spain’s top streamers. Some of those streamers, including Ibai, are friends with French captain Kylian Mbappé as well.
And then there are the creators. The Global Sub Top 50 is filled with fans from all over the world. One of this week’s notable risers is John Nellis, who finished 43rd in the ranking after adding 300,000 new subscribers.
The breadth of soccer content on YouTube could help the platform win the U.S. broadcast rights for upcoming editions of the World Cup. Even if that comes to pass, YouTube will continue to play a massive role in soccer discourse as long as stars like Haaland and Bellingham use it to share their experiences.
I hope Haaland continues to hone his vlogging skills even after his starmaking World Cup concludes. I much prefer the real player over the ridiculous Haaland and Mbappé AI videos that have been making the rounds.
