A fresh creative team will lead Skibidi Toilet into the future

It’s been a while since we last checked in on the internet’s favorite human-headed toilet creatures, but the company that owns the Skibidi Toilet IP just delivered an important update. As Invisible Narratives prepares a feature film adaptation of the franchise that captivated YouTube in 2023, it has announced a new creative team that will be responsible for future episodes of the mainline Skibidi series.

Three years ago, Skibidi Toilet emerged out of obscurity to become the biggest thing on YouTube. As animated battles pitted anthropomorphic loos against TV-headed adversaries, older generations struggled to understand the appeal. Gen Alpha, however, loved it. For a time in 2023, DaFuq!?Boom! — the onetime YouTube home of Skibidi creator Alexey “Boom” Gerasimovposted viewership numbers that have rarely been seen before or since.

Invisible Narratives, which turns viral fads into Hollywood franchises and counts Michael Bay among its creative advisors, moved quickly to capitalize on the Skibidi craze. After putting out a toy line inspired by the series, Invisible Narratives turned its attention to the big screen, but a subsequent rash of drama threatened to take the wind out of Skibidi’s sails.

The problem, according to many Skibidi fans, was that Boom had gone silent after previously providing regular updates about the franchise’s future. The pace of new episodes on the official Skibidi YouTube channel slowed to a crawl, and fans called for a return to the old days, petitioning on social media to #BringBoomBack.

In response, Invisible Narratives discussed Boom’s decision to “step back” into an executive producer role. About a year later, the company has revealed the team that will work on new episodes moving forward, and the roster is filled with longtime members of the Skibidi community.

Virlance, the creator behind a popular Skibidi fan channel, will serve as showrunner. 18-year-old Achi will shepherd Skibidi lore as the franchise’s Lead Story Editor. FScript will bring his knowledge of the 3D engine Source to the project, and Strider — who was credited as the co-creator of Skibidi Toilet episode 80, will take the lead on animation and sound design.

So no, Invisible Narratives doesn’t have any firm plans to #BringBoomBack, but by bringing key members of the Skibidi community on board, the studio is doing the next best thing. Virlance, Strider, FScript, and Achi will ensure that a bizarre Gen Alpha touchstone stays true to its roots, even as it ventures into territory where no TV head or toilet-person has gone before.
