Roblox arrived at the 2026 Game Developers’ Conference with big news for its community. Its new Incubator and Jumpstart programs will provide invaluable support for creators who want to ideate, develop, and share their own games.
Both Incubator and Jumpstart are aimed at creators who want to work within Roblox’s developer environment, but there are some key differences between the two programs. Jumpstart targets creators who lack game-making experience but want to get started. A video on the Roblox YouTube channel notes that a “great pitch” is “all you need” to be part of the Jumpstart cohort.
The Incubator program serves creators who already have experience with Roblox development and are ready for a deeper dive. Through six months of hands-on support, Roblox will help the members of the Incubator cohort devise and build their next games.
Roblox’s expanded support structure can help it stand out in what has suddenly become a crowded field. Sandbox-style game development is a red-hot trend among brands and a billion-dollar monetization pipeline for creators. Those realities have brought major game studios like Rockstar and EA into the industry.
Supporting smaller creators is a good way to stand out among the crowd. Kick’s incentives for new streamers, for example, have helped it become a viable alternative to Twitch.
The Incubator program, meanwhile, will facilitate more transparent relations between Roblox and its creator community. Many of those creators have asked for more details about the secret sauce behind Roblox’s homepage features, and one of the key perks for Incubator participants is guaranteed real estate on that page.
“As we look to the future of the platform, we want to help everyone push the boundaries of what’s possible, with support and technological innovation,” reads a Roblox blog post. “To support creators in exploring new genres, new gameplay mechanics, and new visual styles, we’re announcing two new programs.”
Roblox is inviting Game Developers’ Conference attendees to share their pitches with its representatives at the event. Those conversations will help determine the inaugural Jumpstart class while cultivating newfound goodwill among the growing community of sandbox devs.
