Nebula adds new original programs, expands into news coverage with new division

Nebula is venturing into new frontiers. As the creator-operated streaming service unveils its latest slate of original content, it is also launching a new division. Nebula News, a partnership between the streamer and Jack Kelly of TLDR News, will deliver the latest headlines.

Kelly will take the lead as the news director of Nebula’s new unit. In a media landscape rife with misinformation and sensationalism, Nebula plans to apply its educational, fact-focused bent to its news coverage. Kelly and his team will roll out originals while providing context for trending stories.

“TLDR has been working with Nebula for a couple of years now, and I’ve been consistently impressed by Nebula’s commitment not only to the creator community but also to creating the best experience and product for Nebula viewers,” Kelly said in a statement. “So, when I was approached to head up Nebula’s new News product, I knew it was the ideal opportunity to bring even more high-quality journalism to Nebula subscribers.”

The rest of Nebula’s original content slate has a lot in common with the platform’s previous programming waves. Subscribers will be able to enjoy a range of docuseries and short films from creators like Tom Nicholas, Sarah Renae Clark, and Patrick Willems.

Serialized projects will include a sketch comedy program led by Derrick Comedy vet DC Pierson and a spin-off of Jet Lag, the travel game show that ranks among Nebula’s most popular originals. Jet Lag co-star Sam Denby has become Nebula’s Chief Content Officer, and the Wendover Productions host will enter into another competition when The Getaway arrives later this year.

Nebula’s originals slate also includes some forays into podcasting. Sean Nelson and Lola Sebastian will host audio shows based around celebrity interviews and a high school scandal, respectively.

Details about Nebula’s upcoming shows, films, and podcasts can be found in a press release issued by the platform.
