The Why Files wants to put its mascot on your feet

Mystery, myth, and legend-investigating YouTube channel The Why Files has gone lots of places in pursuit of the truths that (maybe) lie hidden all around us.

Now it wants to go on your feet.

The Why Files (which has 3.4 million subscribers and brings in nearly 30 million views per month) teamed up with sneakerhead platform SoleSavy and producer Garrixon Studios to create The Hecklekicks, a limited-edition sneaker inspired by its mascot Hecklefish.

The Hecklekicks come in a black, white, and red colorway with Why Files branding and Hecklefish packaging. They’re made of Napa leather, Italian suede, and a Vibram outsole, and go on sale March 9. They’ll only be in stock for 10 days; after that, they’re gone.

“We are excited to bring another amazing product to the fans of The Why Files,” Jen Gentile, CEO of The Why Files, said in a statement. “Our goal is to have quality merchandise that allow Whyphiles to support the channel with style. SoleSavy has created this awesome shoe with that in mind and we are thrilled with the result.”

Hecklekicks are The Why Files’ first shoe and its first partnership with SoleSavy, but it’s got a robust merch store offering clothes, cryptid mugs, official Hecklefish Post-its and plushies, and more.

Ali Adab, SoleSavy’s CCO, added, “The Why Files have built an incredible brand and IP, and we are honored to bring their vision to life as they continue to innovate and bring new products to market for their loyal community.”

The Hecklekicks were produced by SoleSavy and Garrixon’s creator-focused joint venture, which launched around this time last year and has also released sneakers with creators like CJ So Cool and Jesser.
