After MrBeast declines to post on X, Musk says it’s improving creator payouts

Last week, Elon Musk urged MrBeast to post his videos on X (formerly Twitter, RIP). MrBeast swiftly declined, saying that the creator payouts X provides just aren’t enough to make posting there worth it.

“My videos cost millions to make and even if they got a billion views on X it wouldn’t fund a fraction of it,” he said.

Now Musk is saying that X will bump up the amount of money creators make in 2024.

He paused between dozens of tweets endorsing conspiracy theories and complaining about the “woke mind virus” to tell a user named DogeDesigner that “[c]reator rewards will increase significantly this year.”

He didn’t give specifics–not that surprising, considering X has never divulged exactly what the revenue split for creators is.

He also didn’t specifically say this change is because MrBeast turned him down, but it’s no secret X is trying to court big creators. It’s worked in some cases: it signed a two-year content deal with Paris Hilton in October and just announced it’ll be making original series with controversial people including Don Lemon, Tulsi Gabbard, and Jim Rome.

But MrBeast, who makes millions upon millions on YouTube with a tried and true content strat, will likely take more convincing before he’s willing to give X a shot.
