Jacksepticeye’s Thankmas has raised $25 million

Jacksepticeye‘s latest Thankmas charity livestream raised over $6 million for World Central Kitchen.

It also brought his total amount raised over six years of Thankmas to more than $25 million.

Jacksepticeye (aka Sean McLoughlin) began holding Thankmas in 2017, first as a stream from his YouTube channel, and later, in partnership with fundraising platform Tiltify, as a bigger, stage-set live event with guest stars including Jack Black, Markiplier, and Valkyrae. Thankmas raised $4.6 million to support Red Nose Day in 2020, then $7.6 million for New Story in 2021, and $10 million for World Central Kitchen last year.

This year’s show ran for 24 hours, from Dec. 2 to Dec. 3, and was co-hosted by Ethan Nestor. During the stream, he presented McLoughlin with a plaque commemorating Thankmas’ lifetime total of $25 million raised.

“Just woke up and still buzzing from yesterday,” McLoughlin tweeted after the stream. “6 million raised during the show and over $25 million raised for charity since Thankmas began. I’m so proud of everyone who helps make this happen every year. Thank you.”

McLoughlin himself was this year’s biggest donor; he gave $380,000. You can see other top donors (including several generous anons) here.

On the heels of all this fundraising action, McLoughlin has another long-running project making its debut: his comic series The ALTRVERSE, which its publisher Bad Egg describes as a “cross-platform, genre-bending, multiversal comic adventure.”

The first issue drops digitally today, with hard copies mailing out the first week of January.
