Sports creator Jesser expands leadership team, hires Spotify vet as first Bucketsquad President

Thanks to his blend of action and data analysis, Jesse Riedel has built his Jesser channel into one of the biggest sports hubs on the internet. Now, Riedel is taking his Bucketsquad brand to the next level by hiring its first-ever President. Zach Miller, a veteran of Spotify and NBCUniversal, will lead Bucketsquad’s expansion as the company chases new revenue opportunities.

At Spotify, Miller spent two years as the Head of Content Strategy & Business Development. His new gig will have a similar job description: He’ll work with the Bucketsquad team in areas like content subscription, international syndication, and retail.

Riedel has already launched several merchandising ventures. Last month, he lived every baller’s dream by bringing his own sneaker line, the Bucketsquad 1s, to the public. In a statement, he said that the Miller hire will allow him to prioritize his growing content operation.

“Zach is a key piece of the puzzle for us. When I first started creating content, I never could have imagined that we’d have one of the most popular sports YouTube channels with 16 million subscribers,” Riedel said. “Creating the content is the thing I love the most and bringing Zach onboard to run and grow Bucketsquad will allow me to double down on making videos.”

After rising up alongside other members of the 2HYPE basketball collective, Riedel took his solo act to new heights by building out a full team and optimizing each second of his videos. As a result, Bucketsquad claims to have doubled its revenue year-over-year, and the Jesser YouTube channel is projected to reach 17 million subscribers by the end of 2023.

One person who is partially responsible for that growth is Marko Preocanin, who is getting a promotion as part of Bucketsquad’s executive shuffle. Preocanin will take on the title of Senior Executive Producer. In that role, he’ll work with Riedel to lead Bucketsquad’s creative direction. In a statement, Miller described Preocanin as the “creative glue that brings our videos to life.”

Miller’s arrival will also usher in a new era of content development on the Jesser channel and beyond. The sports-flavored hub already has a lot of exciting IP to work with. For example, Riedel recently reunited with his All-Star Celebrity Game coach Giannis Antetokounmpo for a hilarious rendition of the “Guess The NBA Player” game.
