Josh Richards will ‘Read The Room’ in upcoming sketch comedy series

Josh Richards is looking for laughs. The influencer and one-time Sway House member is the creative force behind Read The Room, a sketch series that will be distributed across its star’s social channels.

The first season of Read The Room includes seven episodes, with the first installment premiering on November 7. Each episode includes multiple sketches, with Richards taking leading roles in many of the bits. The multiplatform star produced Read The Room through CrossCheck Studios, the “Gen Z media company” he established in 2021. He is also handling distribution through his hubs on YouTubeInstagramTikTok, and Snapchat.

The Read The Room logline claims that “no topic is off limits” as Richards skewers pop culture, the creator world, and more. The formats on display will range from parodies to short films to musical numbers, with Richards demonstrating his “fast-paced, absurd” approach to comedy.

Though Richards is the main attraction in Read The Room, his sketch series will include a number of guest stars. The cast includes a mix of celebs, including social media standouts like Indiana Massara

, musicians like Oliver Tree, and traditional media personalities like Matthew Berry of NBC Sports and WWE superstar Drew McIntyre.

Richards plans to release a new episode of Read the Room each week. The last of those installments is due out on December 19.

Silly as it may be, Read the Room is a major stepping stone for its creator and star. Since breaking out alongside his Sway LA housemates, Richards has become an active participant in the creator economy. He has built his personal brand in areas like influencer marketing, brand ambassadorship, creator products, and talent development.

The launch of CrossCheck accelerated Richards’ acting career by giving him chances to step in front of the camera. He’ll show off another big role soon: While Read the Room is still in the midst of its first season, Richards will arrive in movie theaters thanks to his supporting role in Dream Scenario, an upcoming film starring Nicolas Cage and produced by A24.
