Ryan Trahan is bringing back the penny series–and it might be going international.
For those who weren’t witness to his previous one-cent feat, here’s the lowdown: Last summer, Trahan set out with the goal of crossing America, starting from one penny, to give a penny to fellow YouTuber MrBeast (and raise money for Feeding America while he was at it).
Trahan started his journey by using the penny to buy a pen, and then selling that same pen for $1. He used the dollar to buy a water bottle, sold that for $2, and…you see the process. He made his way across the entire U.S. via bus and train, using profits from things like selling drinks, delivering food, walking dogs, and washing windows, and though he was set back a couple times by The Great Reset (which returned his money stash to just one penny whenever any single donor gave $50,000 toward Feeding America in one go) he successfully delivered a giant penny to MrBeast in North Carolina on day 30.
In that month, Trahan raised more than $1.4 million for Feeding America, far surpassing his original goal of $100,000.
Now it seems he’s back at it. His most recent YouTube video closes with a quick voiceover where Trahan says, “Hope you guys are having a great summer. I’ll see you on July 1 with nothing but a penny and a dream.” As the voiceover concludes, text fades into view showing a day count and a donation count.
Shortly after posting that video, Trahan tweeted “the cats outta the bag” with a graphic introducing Penny Series—Far From Home. The graphic has a series of five boxes, four of which have locks on them, and one of which is the American flag, seemingly indicating that he plans to take his penny-accumulating ways to more countries this time around.
We’ll update this story with any further info. You can check out the new series on Trahan’s channel July 1.
