Night’s production arm wants to broaden creators’ content horizons

Management company Night has brought in former Unrealistic Ideas exec Jared Jacobs as vice president of development for Night Studios, its creator-centered content production arm.

“At Night, we think that digital creators are well on their way to becoming the most influential personalities in the entertainment industry, and we expect this trend to only grow in the coming years,” a Night representative tells Tubefilter.

To that end, Night Studios intends to team up with some of the more than 50 creators Night manages (a roster that includes MrBeast, Dream, and Unspeakable) to produce everything from podcasts to TV shows to animated projects, films, documentaries, and live programming.

Jacobs, as previously mentioned, joins from Mark Wahlberg-founded Unrealistic Ideas, where he was director of development. Before joining Unrealistic Ideas, he spent more than two years at Blumhouse Productions, working on unscripted series including HBO‘s What Happened, Brittany Murphy? and Netflix‘s Our Father. Prior to that, he was with William Morris Endeavor.

“I’m incredibly excited to join the Night

team and to help build out our original content arm,” Jacobs said in a statement. “Night is the preeminent talent management company in the digital space, representing the biggest and best creators in the world. I look forward to working with our creators to develop intellectual property and programming that brings the core DNA of their creative content to the premium space.”

In his own statement, Night Studios head Alex Piper added, “Night Studios is uniquely positioned to merge the creative passion and engaged audiences of the biggest digital creators in the world with the distribution and star-making capabilities of traditional media. Jared will help us develop a slate of unique multi-format and multi-genre programming that is as diverse as the creators we represent.”

Night tells Tubefilter that Night Studios has “very much been in the development phase” since Piper joined the division in May 2022. Night Studios expects to launch its first creator products this year, and expects to grow its production team in the future.
