Kids’ content giant Moonbug is going to have a lot of live events

Moonbug, the leading digital content maker for kids, is forging further into live events under the tutelage of just-tapped executive Susan Vargo.

Vargo, who hails from Nickelodeon, has been named Moonbug’s head of live events, a newly-created role. She will oversee all of the company’s brand and franchise-specific live shows, branded areas, character events, and experiences in locations like theme parks. She will be based in the U.K., working on Moonbug properties like Blippi, CoComelon, and Little Baby Bum.

Vargo most recently oversaw global creative development for Nickelodeon live entertainment, where she expanded its live theatrical business, including adaptations of Paw Patrol Live! and Dora The Explorer Live!

She is also the executive producer of The SpongeBob Musical. And prior to joining Nickelodeon, Vargo managed licensing of stage adaptations for Paramount Pictures, including Ghost The Musical, The First Wives Club, and Clueless.

Moonbug, which was acquired last fall by Candle Media for a reported $3 billion, purchases IP and builds global entertainment franchises via licensing, merchandising, original productions, brand partnerships, and live events. Last week, the company added its latest YouTube brand, Little Angel, to its franchise arsenal.
