TikTok Launches Latinx Creator Incubator For Hispanic Heritage Month

Ahead of National Hispanic Heritage Month, kicking off on Sept. 15, TikTok is launching a new incubator program to invest in and support emerging Latinx voices on its platform.

TikTok Latinx Creatives, as the program is called, will take place over 10 weeks and serve to nurture 150 resident creators and musicians. The program is being hosted in collaboration Macro, a multi-platform media company representing the voices and perspectives of Black people and people of color. MACRO will advise TikTok on speaker selection, programming, and business-building opportunities for participants.

Applications are now open, and will close on Sept. 8.

“Building on the success of our Macro x TikTok for Black Creatives program, we are thrilled to again partner with TikTok to identify and develop the next generation of Latinx entertainers,” Macro’s chief brand officer, Stacey Walker King

, said in a statement.

In a release, TikTok called out native Latinx creators and musicians who are flourishing on its platform, including Vinny the Twister (2.2 million followers), J Balvin (17.3 million), Becky G (14 million), and Natti Natasha (13 million). And Latinx community hashtags — including #Comida and #FamiliaLatina — have generated more than 10 billion lifetime video views.

TikTok For Black Creatives launched in Feb. 2021 and served to develop the careers of 100 emerging creators over the course of three months, guided by town halls featuring Black entrepreneurs, celebrities, entertainment executives, and the TikTok team. To date, two dozen creators from the program have gone on to pursue music, film, and branded projects, TikTok said.
