Moonbug Inks Deal With The BBC To Distribute CoComelon, Little Baby Bum, More

Children’s content giant Moonbug Entertainment has signed a deal with the BBC, which marks its first-ever partnership with a public service broadcaster.

The deal will call for Moonbug to make all episodes of its popular titles — including CoComelon, Digley and Dazey, Little Baby Bum, Go Buster, and Playtime with Twinkle — available on the BBC iPlayer. iPlayer is a free and ad-free VOD service that is available on mobile devices, computers, and smart TVs. (That said, U.K. viewers are required to hold a TV license to watch iPlayer content, which costs roughly $225 annually).

The pact marks Moonbug’s second partnership with a traditionally linear broadcaster in the U.K. It also operates a distribution deal with Cartoonito, a WarnerMedia-owned network targeting preschool-aged children.

“Our collaboration with the BBC marks the first partnership with a public service broadcaster. A real quality stamp for our creative teams,” Nicolas Eglau, Moonbug’s managing director of EMEA and APAC, said in a statement. “BBC is known worldwide for its engaging programming for preschoolers, and Moonbug is excited to enter a partnership with such a renowned organization.”

Moonbug says its content is available in 27 languages and distributed on 100 platforms globally.
