YouTube collective The Boys, best known for their gaming and TikTok reaction videos — which has led to 2 million subscribers on a joint channel as well as 25 million across each their individual hubs — have entered the buzzy NFT space with a hefty helping of humor.
The group — which predominantly consisting of Mully, JoshDub, EddieVR, JuicyFruitSnacks, and Your Narrator, but frequently features other collaborators as well — dropped their debut non-fungible token launch yesterday. (NFTs are a form of cryptocurrency that can be purchased and traded like a collectible, most frequently in the form of digital art. It’s a medium that’s increasingly being embraced by creators like Logan Paul, Elijah Daniel, and Zach Hsieh).
Cleverly, The Boys chose to design their tokens in the form of foot photos — a wink at the popular fetish that proliferates across YouTube and the wider web. The Boys’ inaugural NFT collection comprises 50 tokens — or 50 unique feet pics shot by the guys — with each being put up for sale at auction that ran for 24 hours.
You can check out the auction — which just closed — right here, with bids for the 50 tokens totaling roughly $11,900. The most expensive foot photo was Your Narrator’s Blue Foot picture, which sold for a cool $1,200.
The release was hosted by NFT platform Bitski, which says it abstracts away the blockchain complexities involved in selling NFTs and enables consumers who are new to cryptocurrency to purchase them with a credit card.
“The Boys have grown their audience from being at the forefront of internet culture, and this NFT drop with Bitski is the perfect example of that,” Grace Watkins, the CEO of Click Management — which manages the guys — said in a statement. “We are excited to continue to explore ways for creators to connect directly with their audiences to deliver unique content.”
