YouTube TV appears to be readying a number of add-on packages, beginning today with a new premium bundle comprising HBO Max, Showtime, and Starz.
The so-called Entertainment Plus bundle is priced at $30 per month, though would cost a total of $35 if each channel were purchased individually, notes The Verge. YouTube TV previously launched a Sports Plus bundle, priced at $11 per month, which includes NFL RedZone, FOX College Sports, GOLTV, FOX Soccer Plus, MAVTV Motorsports Network, TVG and TVG2, and Stadium.
The Verge reports that the discounted entertainment package arrives as YouTube TV continues to raise its baseline monthly pricing — which rocketed from $50 to $65 in June. That pricing reflected a new carriage deal
struck between YouTube and ViacomCBS, whereupon YouTube TV onboarded BET, CMT, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon, and more.Beyond its content-themed bundles, YouTube chief product officer Neal Mohan announced earlier this week that YouTube TV is building another add-on package that will offer 4K streaming, the ability to download shows to DVR for offline viewing, and unlimited concurrent streams at home. (A standard subscription offers a three-screen limit). That said, YouTube has yet to share pricing details or a release date for this forthcoming offering.
All told, YouTube TV currently counts 3 million paid subscribers and offers more than 85 different channels.
