Instagram Names Pandora, Lyft Vet Melissa Waters Global VP Of Marketing

Instagram has hired a new global VP of marketing. The Facebook-owned photo and video sharer has tapped Melissa Waters, AdWeek reports.

Waters launched her career at music streamer Pandora in 2011, rising to the role of VP of brand and product marketing, and subsequently held top marketing roles at Lyft (VP of marketing) and telehealth startup Hims & Hers, where she served as chief marketing officer before arriving at Instagram. Per LinkedIn, Waters notes that her chief aim at Instagram will be to “connect users with the people and things they love.”

AdWeek notes that it is unclear what’s going on with Waters’ predecessor, Gideon Aloula, who joined Instagram almost exactly one year ago in the global VP of marketing role. Aloula, who was HP’s head of global marketing for commercial PCs before joining Instagram, is still listed as Instagram’s global VP of marketing on his LinkedIn profile.
