YouTube is giving quarantined children more venues to consume content on its dedicated Kids app.
YouTube Kids has now launched on the Apple TV app store. YouTube notes that parents can use their Apple TV remote controls to open the app using voice commands. Additionally, all parental controls and settings that have been implemented on the YouTube Kids mobile app will automatically be transferred to Apple TV. Settings can continue to be changed using tablets or mobile phones, though certain features aren’t available on the TV app, including offline mode, voice search, or setting a timer.
YouTube Kids is continuing to expand to additional devices and countries, per YouTube, and is currently available on select LG, Samsung, and Sony smart TVs, as well as Android TV devices.
YouTube Kids usage has surged during the pandemic, with one report finding that in the first three months of 2020, people around the world spent more time on the YouTube Kids app than any other service or platform — including Netflix, Twitch, and even parent app YouTube.
