YouTube’s Virtual Graduation Ceremony Adds Beyoncé, Mark Rober, Emma Chamberlain To Lineup

YouTube has added even more star wattage to its previously-announced Dear Class Of 2020 event — a festival-style, virtual graduation ceremony for homebound high school and college students the world over in quarantine. The event will comprise inspirational words from a newly-updated roster of stars (below), and will conclude with a YouTube Music-hosted party with live performances from chart-topping stars.

Joining Barack and Michelle Obama to deliver inspiration missives during the star-studded broadcast are: Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Lala Anthony, Andy Cohen, Lana Condor, Misty Copeland, Kevin Durant, Finneas, Bill and Melinda Gates, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jennifer Lopez, Demi Lovato, Hasan Minhaj, Janelle Monáe, Antoni Porowski, Billy Porter, Phoebe Robinson, Yara Shahidi, Michael Strahan, Taylor Swift, Ciara and Russell Wilson, the casts of Euphoria and Riverdale, and the Today show’s Jenna Bush Hager and Natalie Morales.

On the native YouTuber front, Dear Class Of 2020

will feature appearances from Emma Chamberlain, John Green, NikkieTutorials, and Mark Rober. (The first slate of YouTubers to be named as participants earlier this month included Jackie Aina, AsapSCIENCE, Dude Perfect, Zane Hijazi, Heath Hussar, Mr. Kate, and The Try Guys).

Prior to the aforementioned speeches, Michelle Obama’s Reach Higher initiative will host a full hour of content to kick off Dear Class, which will air on the YouTube Originals channel and on YouTube’s Learn@Home website. Any graduating students in the U.S. can apply to be featured during the stream right here, with the deadline for submissions being May 22.
