YouTuber Corey La Barrie has tragically passed away on his 25th birthday.
TMZ reports that first responders were called to the scene of a fatal car accident in Los Angeles yesterday evening, after a McLaren — in which La Barrie was the passenger and his friend and fellow influencer, Daniel Silva, was allegedly the driver — crashed into a street sign as well as a tree. La Barrie purportedly took the brunt of the hit, while Silva doesn’t appear to have suffered life-threatening injuries. He is being treated for a broken hip, per TMZ, and will likely be arrested for murder once he’s discharged from the hospital.
TMZ reports that sources told law enforcement that Silva was seen drinking at a party earlier in the evening for La Barrie’s birthday, and that the McLaren was traveling at high speeds prior to the crash.
La Barrie, who counted 215,000 followers on Instagram and 338,000 YouTube subscribers, was best known for his comedic vlogs and challenge videos with friends. He was also a cast member for the inaugural season of The Reality House — a Big Brother-style reality competition series created by YouTube OGs Kian Lawley and Jc Caylen.
Members of the YouTube community came together on social media to mourn La Barrie’s passing, and to commemorate the impact of his friendship:
