YouTuber Vitaly Zdorovetskiy Jailed For Climbing Egyptian Pyramids: “I Saw Horrible Things”

Though, by his own admission, he’s been in jail “many times,” notorious YouTube prankster Vitaly Zdorovetskiy just endured a harrowing experience after his latest stunt went awry.

Zdorovetskiy, 27, shared on Instagram that he spent five days in an Egyptian jail after attempting to climb one of the The Great Pyramids of Giza, which is the oldest of the ‘Seven Wonders of the World’. Zdorovetskiy says his stint in Egypt marked his worst experience in prison to date. “I saw horrible things and I don’t wish this upon anybody,” he captioned a photo of the pyramid he allegedly climbed. “Was it worth it? F-ck yeah! I did it for a good cause and soon I’m going to share the whole video so the whole world can see.”

No word yet on when the video is slated to debut, nor has Zdorovetskiy disclosed any details about his cause.

According to Insider, in November, Egypt made it illegal to climb any of the county’s antiquities — including its pyramids — without obtaining a license first. The punishment for the offense can be at least one month in prison and a fine between $630 and $6,300 — though the penalties can be doubled if the acts are also found to have violated public decency.

In addition to his pyramid stunt, Zdorovetskiy has made international headlines for storming the field during high-profile sporting events — including running onto the field during the 2014 World Cup

, and streaking during the 2016 NBA Finals (for which he was arrested on charges of criminal trespassing on a place of public amusement, and resisting arrest, per Insider). He was also arrested on a misdemeanor charge for running onto the field during the 2017 World Series, and for attempting to mount the iconic ‘Hollywood’ sign in Los Angeles in 2016.
