Australian Millionaire Seeking Personal Instagram Photographer, At $55,000 Salary

In a not-so-surprising turn amid today’s Insta image-obsessed climate, an Australian millionaire is making international headlines for a job post calling for a personal social media photog.

Matthew Lepre, the 27-year-old founder of ecommerce training course Ecom Warrior Academy, is putting out the call for a full-time photographer who would travel the globe with him and snap photos for his two Instagram accounts, which count a combined 213,300 followers. Lepre is offering a $55,000 annual salary to the job recipient, with a job description — appropriately shared on Instagram — that states the gig does not require any prior experience, and that Lepre will cover travel expenses, training, and equipment. The chosen candidate will also be able to bring a friend on the road.

To be fair, the listing reads more like an Instagram contest — and a publicity ploy — than an actual job listing, though it undoubtedly speaks to the importance of honing a carefully-crafted social presence in today’s business atmossphere. To

be eligible for the job, aspiring photographers must be following Lepre and his business’ Instagram accounts, tag a friend on the job announcement post, and then submit their details at this link (which appears to be down at press time). The winner will be announced next May 31.

Lepre’s ecommerce biz makes $120,000 per month, according to The Daily Mail, which reports that the entrepreneur previously found a personal assistant via a public call that he says netted 70,000 applications.

“During the past year alone, I have managed to grow my business while travelling to UAE, Indonesia, USA, New Zealand, Italy, France, Spain, Switzerland, and Thailand, and up until now, have relied on my best friend to be there to take photos on his phone,’ Lepre told The Daily Mail. “My business has now expanded rapidly and I need my mate, Mitch, to be there to work in other areas so I’m now putting the open call out to the world for someone to be there to fill this role.”
