Gigi Gorgeous To Launch Eponymous Makeup Brand In Collaboration With Ipsy

Veteran lifestyle vlogger Gigi Gorgeous, arguably the first mainstream YouTube star to come out publicly as transgender, is throwing her hat into the beauty brand ring with Gigi Gorgeous Cosmetics.

Gorgeous’s soon-to-launch eponymous makeup brand is being created in collaboration with Ipsy — a beauty subscription box service and online retailer co-founded by fellow YouTube makeup OG Michelle Phan, though Phan is no longer affiliated with Ipsy as of 2017.

While Gorgeous has shared little about the forthcoming collection beyond a few snapshots on Instagram, the items tout white and pastel pink packaging with her name emblazoned in black. She noted she would be “unveiling everything this weekend on October 13 in New York City at Ipsy Live” — a live event series for creators and customers hosted by the company. “I can’t wait to share more about the entire line and go in depth with each product, my ideas behind them, the custom formulas, packaging, and everything else,” wrote Gorgeous, who is 27.

According to Paper, the collection will launch on Nov. 1 and include a lip gloss ($16), a contour brush ($18), a duo matte bronzer ($24), and a blush ($24). Gorgeous told WWD, which first reported the collection reveal, that she created the line due to a lack of inclusivity in the beauty space, and that her products are intended for shoppers of all gender identities. She says she opted to partner with Ipsy because it was one of the first brands to collaborate with her at the outset of her career.

Gorgeous — who recently married longtime girlfriend Nats Getty, and who wrapped up a book tour for her literary foray, He Said, She Said — isn’t the only transgender YouTube icon to launch a makeup line with a similar ethos of inclusivity in recent months. Nikita Dragun launched her makeup line, Dragun Beauty, in March. Furthermore, the YouTuber beauty industry as a whole is having something of a moment in the spotlight thanks to Shane Dawson, who has turned his docuseries lens for the second time on one of the platform’s most successful entrepreneurs to date, Jeffree Star.
