Michelle Obama To Launch College Advice Series On ‘YouTube Learning’ Hub

Former First Lady Michelle Obama is building on her relationship with YouTube.

The video giant unveiled today the trailer for A Student’s Guide to Your First Year of College — a playlist starring and curated by Obama and her education initiative Reach Higher, which she started at the White House, and which encourages students to complete their education beyond high school. Videos in the Guide will cover myriad topics, including financial aid, finding mentors, and living on your own for the first time. Obama will be joined on the playlist by experts in the field, upperclassmen, and missives from Reach Higher’s annual Beating The Odds Summit — for first-generation, college-bound students.

The playlist, comprising a 10-episode crash course, will launch on Sept. 4 on YouTube.com/Learning

— a new hub launched by YouTube on the heels of a $20 million investment last fall to fund education-focused content. It will also live on the YouTube channel of NowThis — a left-leaning digital media brand owned by Group Nine.

Obama previously pacted with YouTube on a special dubbed BookTube, where she sat down with top creators — including John Green Jouelzy, Ariel Bissett, Kat O’Keeffe, Jesse George, and Franchesca Ramsey — in honor of Women’s History Month and to promote her best-selling memoir Becoming.
