Court Filing Reveals Kim Kardashian West Can Command $500,000 Per Sponsored Instagram Post

A pending lawsuit has revealed the stunning fees that reality star Kim Kardashian West — arguably the nation’s most prominent social influencer — charges for online endorsements.

In February, Kardashian West’s corporation, Kimsaprincess Inc., filed a $10 million lawsuit against the U.K. fast-fashion retailer Missguided for misappropriating and unlawfully profiting off of her image and persona, Business Insider reports. Missguided frequently creates replicas of celebrity outfits with cheaper pricetags, and had used images of Kardashian West on its site and social media channels to promote designs inspired by her getups.

In a recent court filing, Kardashian defended her position by revealing that she typically receives between $300,000 and $500,000 per sponsored Instagram post. And when it comes to longer-term partnerships, she says, that figure rises substantially — and can include equity in the partner brand. For instance, Kardashian West’s attorney, Todd Wildson, claims that she recently signed a $6 million annual deal with a wearable consumer goods company in which she was also granted “substantial equity,” per Business Insider.

Therefore, Kardashian West claimed that Missguided’s use of her image could confuse fans and discourage companies from working with her in the future. “Because a significant portion of my business involves the licensing of my name, trademarks, and images,” Kardashian West wrote, “I work very hard to ensure that my brand means something to my fans and to the public, who view the use of my name as the stamp of approval by me.”

In February, Missguided told Business Insider that it had no official partnership with Kardashian West. “Missguided shoppers know the score — we’re about the look, without the celeb bucks,” the company said. “For the record, as much as we love her style, we’re not working with Kim on anything.”

Kardashian West isn’t the only member of the reality TV clan to command sky-high rates for sponsored Instagram posts. Social media scheduling service Hopper reports that Kylie Jenner can make as much as $1 million per sponsored post.
