GoFundMe Doubles Down On Original Content With ‘True Stories’ Podcast Renewal

With podcasts top of mind following Spotify’s acquisition of two of the biggest properties in the space, charitable crowdfunding platform GoFundMe is ramping up its original content push.

The company is bringing back its True Stories Of Good People

audio series — which chronicles users who are making an impact on or being impacted by the platform — for a second season. At the same time, GoFundMe will introduce a recurring series within True Stories in conjunction with its ongoing GoFundMe Heroes initiative, which highlights everyday people who are harnessing GoFundMe to do extraordinary things. GoFundMe Heroes episodes, rolling out monthly, will also feature tips and tricks for successful fundraisers.

New episodes of True Stories will arrive weekly all year on iTunes, Google Play, and Spotify.

“At our core, we are a storytelling platform. We are constantly evolving and building our content strategy to best honor the everyday heroes who share their stories on GoFundMe and inspire their communities to take action and help others,” GoFundMe CMO Raquel Rozas said in a statement. “A podcast is an intimate form of storytelling, which provides us with another channel to share the amazing stories that are happening on our platform.”

True Stories is hosted by Kelsea Little (pictured above, left), and launched its second season yesterday with three new episodes: one chronicling Mallory Brown (pictured above, right), who is venturing to walk a marathon, mile by mile, alongside 26 different impoverished women across the globe; another about 12-year-old Liam Hannon, who feeds the homeless in his Boston neighborhood; and a third telling the story of E-Jayy DeVaughn, whose mother, Sherree, launched a GoFundMe to help finance his experience at Harvard — and who is now paying this generosity forward in his own Compton community.

GoFundMe has raised $5 billion from more than 50 million donors to date.
