After Stunning Australian Open Win, Stefanos Tsitsipas Urges Stadium to Subscribe To His YouTube Channel

After advancing to the semi-finals of the Australian Open, Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas had a message for audiences gathered at Rod Laver Arena: “If you haven’t subscribed, please subscribe,” Tsitsipas said, per CNN, referring to his burgeoning YouTube channel, where he shares travel vlogs as well as other day-in-the-life style content.

The promotion clearly worked. Right after his call to action last week, Tsitsipas’ subscriber tally climbed from 23,000 to 29,000, CNN reports. As of today, that figure has more than doubled to 62,300 subscribers.

Tsitsipas, who is just 20 years old and ranked No. 15 in the world, has made waves at this year’s Australian Open after he defeated Roger Federer — becoming the youngest man to reach the Australian Open semi-finals in 16 years. Tomorrow, he will face off against another tennis luminary, Rafael Nadal

In addition to being a successful YouTuber in his own right, Tsitsipas is clearly enmeshed in the greater YouTube community. In a vlog today, Casey Neistat reacted to a Tsitsipas’ interview where he called out the vlogging forefather as “one of my favorite creators of all time.” Tsitsipas also name-checked the Canadian vlogger and cinematographer Peter McKinnon.

You can check out Neistat’s tickled response — where he suggests that he, McKinnon, and Tsitsipas team up for a three-way collab as soon as the Australian Open concludes — below:
