In what could serve as a cautionary tale for influencers faced with choosing the right representation, social star Hayes Grier has filed suit against his former manager for allegedly stealing a $45,000 Cartier bracelet.
Grier claims that he asked Griffin Hadley, who formerly served as his legal guardian, to purchase the item using his credit card while he was on a photoshoot for Taco Bell in Barcelona. (While it is unclear if this is the shoot in question, 18-year-old Grier did appear in Taco Bell’s Super Bowl commercial back in 2016, which you can check out below). In the suit, according to TMZ, Grier claims that Hadley kept the bracelet for himself — mailing it to his home back in the states.
Grier has been attempting to get the bracelet back for the past two years, per TMZ
, and so now he’s suing Hadley — and also asking for undisclosed damages.Hadley did not immediately respond to request for comment.
In addition to his proprietary platforms, where he counts 920,000 YouTube subscribers and 5.5 million Instagram followers, Grier has also appeared on series for other platforms, including go90’s now-defunct Top Grier, in which he cavorted around America’s heartland, and Genius Kitchen’s Famous Food Truck. Grier has also launched his own mobile game, and was honored by PETA in 2016 for using his platform to promote animal welfare.
