Twitch is getting a new chief revenue officer. The company’s current longtime CRO, Jonathan Simpson-Bint, who had been with Twitch since 2011, will be replaced by newcomer Walker Jacobs beginning Dec. 3.
Jacobs joins Twitch from media brand Fandom (née Wikia), where he was chief operating officer of the site that boasts 200 million unique monthly viewers and has raised a whopping $145.4 million to date. Prior to his time at Fandom, Jacobs was president and chief revenue officer at Clear Channel Outdoor, and prior to that was executive vice president at Turner Broadcasting System, where he led sales and marketing for its Turner Digital division (which at the time was home to the first iteration of Super Deluxe).
“Twitch is uniquely positioned to help marketers connect authentically and interact with audiences,” Jacobs said. “At any given moment, more than a million people are on Twitch. The audience is huge and growing — they’re young, influential, difficult to reach, and deeply engaged.”
Jacobs, who will report to Twitch’s chief operating officer Sara Clemens, added that he thinks the “live aspect” of Twitch gives marketers opportunities to “bring new products, formats, and experiences” to its users.
He is the latest in a string of recent executive onboardings at the streaming giant. In September, Twitch brought on Katrina Jones as its first-ever head of diversity and inclusion, hired Michelle Weaver as its new chief financial officer, and named Sudarshana Rangachary its new chief human resources officer.
