Multi-hyphenate Rudy Mancuso is moving full speed ahead with his music career, though his fourth single marks a decided change of pace.
Titled “Lento” and unveiled yesterday on his channel — which counts 5.3 million subscribers — the Latin-inspired tune, which features English and Spanish lyrics, is about the passage of time. (In English, ‘lento’ means slow). In addition to writing the song, Mancuso directed the music video, in which he also stars. The clip sees the 26-year-old costumed like an old man, who’s looking at pictures of his younger self from the comforts of a nursing home. Suddenly, he becomes inspired to dance, coaxing fellow seniors to a raucous pool party.
“I’ve always appreciated the idea of rejuvenating the elders and wanted to attempt my own rendition of the theme,” Mancuso tells Tubefilter. “The elderly characters in the video simply don’t believe in growing old and withering away in a mundane retirement home. Rather, they break out of the unnatural confinement and enjoy themselves.”
In addition to shepherding his own music career, Mancuso has collaborated with several other artists within Shots Studios — the talent management and production firm to which he has long been signed. Mancuso directed the debut music video for fellow social phenom Lele Pons, “Celoso,” and also helmed “Remedy” for famed DJ — and Shots signee — Alesso. Together, the two clips have amassed more than 100 million views.
Mancuso’s previous three singles are titled “Black & White,” “Magic,” and “Mama.” Check out “Lento” — which is currently in fifth place on YouTube’s trending page with upwards of 900,000 views — below:
