YouTube DIY Queen Wengie Links With School Supply Startup Yoobi For Charity Event

Australia-based YouTube phenom Wendy Ayche — who has amassed roughly 14 million collective subscribers and over 1.5 billion lifetime views on the strength of her wildly snackable DIY and life hack videos — is harnessing her massive platform for charity.

Today, Ayche — who is known to fans as Wengie — is pacting with Yoobi, a school supply brand that donates supplies to U.S. schools in need upon every sale. Tomorrow morning, Ayche will appear at McKinley Elementary School in Compton, Calif., where she will help bestow more than 460 elementary school students with free Yoobi supplies. Ayche and Yoobi execs will also host a dance party, reveal a new playground mural, and award one student for positively impacting the community.

Ayche will be joined by fellow lifestyle creators Cassie Diamond and Alexa Mae at the event — in a bid to educate their respective followers about the needs currently faced by countless schools across the country. Also slated to attend are: Yoobi co-founder Ido Leffler and chief giving officer Justin Wolff, singer-songwriter Skylar Stecker, America’s Got Talent star Brynn Rumfallo, and DJ Kevin Writer.

In addition to her charity work, Ayche — who is signed with UTA — was tapped last September to voice one of the characters in a Powerpuff Girls reboot upon its launch in her native Australia. She has also forayed into music in recent months with the launch of a dedicated channel as well as several singles, including “Cake” and “Deja Vu.”
