Guest Stars Compete For The Fastest ‘Hot Lap’ In Donut Media’s New Web Series

In Donut Media‘s new series, guest stars are revving their engines. The media company, known for its automotive content, is behind Hot Lap, which sees amateur racers compete for the chance to earn an Applebee’s gift card.

Each installment of Hot Lap begins with the introduction of a guest, who spends the first part of the episode answer questions about their career while being driven around in a van. After receiving some racing instruction from the guys behind the Donut Media web series Frenemiesthe guests must then turn in their own timed laps around a twisty course. At the end of the season, the competitor who ends up with the fastest lap time will win a $500 Applebee’s gift card. That’s a lot of $1 Long Island iced teas.

The first guest to appear on Hot Lap is Nate Contreras aka Tabasko Sweet, who hosts the web series Cheap Thrills for Super Deluxe. Contreras manages to deliver a pretty solid time and earns some praise from Hot Lap co-hosts James Pumphrey and Bart Bidlingmeyer.

Hot Lap is the latest program Donut Media is using to establish itself as a hip, youthful producer of automotive content. The company’s first web series, Up To Speed, arrived last year. That show is also hosted by Pumphrey.

New episodes of Hot Lap will arrive each Tuesday on Donut Media’s YouTube channel, which is closing in on one million subscribers. Guests who will attempt to surpass Contreras’ lap time include Funhaus gamer Bruce Greene and Because Science host Kyle Hill.
