Throughout the month of May, Reese Witherspoon‘s Hello Sunshine brand with host conversations between celebrities and their moms as part of a Facebook Watch series called Meet My Mom. The latest episode, which arrived online the Friday before Mother’s Day, features YouTube star Lilly Singh and her mother Malwinder.
In Meet My Mom, candid girl talks are used to celebrate powerful women and reveal fascinating details about well-known details. Lilly Singh’s chat with her mother covers everything from the immigrant experience (the Singhs are Indian-Canadian) to Lilly’s greatest passion (which is known to be Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson).
Witherspoon kicked off Meet My Mom by sitting down with her own mother, Betty. The actress launched Hello Sunshine last year in order to create content that is both for women and by women. The media company, which recently named Sarah Harden as its CEO
, is also producing Are You Sleeping, a thriller that will star Octavia Spencer and will be distributed by Apple.“As a child, it’s sometimes hard to see your mom as an individual with her own life,” Witherspoon said in a statement. “But ‘Meet My Mom’ is the chance to get to know the real person behind the mom and find out what really makes her tick. I’m excited to bring this concept to the Facebook community and to hear from all of the other wonderful, hard-working moms out there.”
Future episodes of Meet My Mom will feature figure skater Adam Rippon, actor Leonardo Nam, model Ashley Graham, and (of course) their respective mothers.
