Animated YouTube Red Comedy Starring John Cena To Debut On May 30

Animated comedy series Dallas & Robo just got its YouTube Red debut date. It will premiere on the subscription service on May 30.

In the meantime, the show has released images of its two main characters. Robo, played by actor/wrestler John Cena, looks like a broad-shouldered, red robot wearing a cowboy hat. Trucker Dallas, voiced by Kat Dennings of Two Broke Girls, wears a trucker hat and a vest very similar to the one Michael J. Fox wears as Marty McFly in Back to the Future. Check them out below.

All eight Dallas & Robo episodes will become available on May 30 on the WWE YouTube channel, which has over 25 million subscribers. The show will follow the pair through space as they try to make a living using Dallas’s truck while fighting off big rig rivals as well as “cannibal bikers,” according to a release. Jane Lynch
, Giancarlo Esposito, Taran Killam, Bree Williamson, Milana Vaytrub, Dana Snyder and more will make guest appearances during the show’s first season.

WWE isn’t new to cartoons. In 2014, Nickelodeon picked up the wrestling company’s stop-motion series Slam City, which also featured Cena as a car mechanic. Meanwhile, YouTube Red’s first animated series, Paranormal Action Squad, starring YouTube gamers VanossSeaNanners, and Mr_Sark, debuted on the subscription service in November 2016. Since then, it’s been joined by animated series Fruit Ninja — an adaptation of the popular fruit-slicing game.

Dallas & Robo is produced by Shadowmachine, which has also been behind shows like Netflix’s Bojack Horseman and Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken.
