Jack And Dean Of All Trades may have ended after two seasons when Fullscreen shuttered its eponymous subscription service, but beloved YouTube duo Jack Howard and Dean Dobbs are getting back on the saddle with a brand new project — which is being developed through the Sundance Institute and YouTube’s New Voices Lab.
The YouTube-funded initiative, which was introduced in 2016, annually offers workshops, meetings, residencies, and tools to a select group of up-and-coming filmmakers. This year’s class will comprise 12 total creators (and creator teams) who each have a digital series pilot in the works. Howard and Dobbs will be joined by Pakistani-American documentarian Sindha Agha, comedy duo Anna Salinas and Edgar Momplaisir, and YouTuber Andy ‘Goldentusk’ Goldenberg. (You can check out the full class of New Voices right here).
Over the course of the program, Howard and Dobbs will hone a sitcom called Parentsitting, Howard confirmed on Twitter — though little is known about the project thus far. Howard said that he’s been penning the pilot for weeks, which is why the duo’s YouTube channel has remained relatively dormant. Dobbs quipped on Twitter that being tapped for the New Voices Lab felt like heading back to school.
The Sundance Institute is the Robert Redford-founded nonprofit dedicated to arts development that’s also behind the famed Utah film festival. Past participants in the New Voices Lab include Jon Cozart, Timothy Hautekiet, and Kit Williamson.
