Live Stream Of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy Rocket Test Peaks At 2.3 Million Concurrent Views

Apparently, YouTube viewers really like watching SpaceX tests. On February 6, Elon Musk‘s company successfully launched and landed its Falcon Heavy rocket, and according to Forbes, live streams from the event peaked at 2.3 million concurrent YouTube views.

Forbes, citing data from YouTube, said the rocket launch received the second-highest concurrent viewership of any live stream in the video site’s history, trailing only another space-based event: Red Bull’s Stratos stream from 2012. That broadcast reached eight million concurrent viewers.

The Falcon Heavy, like other SpaceX rockets, is capable of

landing safely on the ground, making it theoretically reusable. That design made many observers curious about the February 6 test, which was streamed by news outlets like NBC News.

This is not the first SpaceX has generated big numbers with a Falcon test. A 2014 clip showcasing the Falcon 9 achieved outstanding viral success, netting more than 24 million views in the first three days after it was uploaded to YouTube.
