After nearly losing his career due to a vlog that exploited suicide, Logan Paul now says he nearly lost his life.
In an unrelated incident, Paul shared on Twitter this morning that he’s lucky to be alive following a skydiving mishap in which his primary parachute failed to deploy. As a result, the high-octane vlogger says he had to cut it aside to make way for a reserve. “I can tell you — the feeling of the blue reserve parachute opening and functioning properly was miraculous,” he tweeted, alongside a picture of the apparatus. “This has never happened to another student before at this school.”
While it’s unclear when exactly the incident occurred, it arrives at a time when Paul is in the midst of some serious self-reflection. In an interview earlier this week on Good Morning America, he called the widespread online condemnation of a January vlog that cavalierly showed a hanged man’s dead body “the hardest time of my life.” At the end of the day, however, Paul believes that the controversy “happened for a reason” — so that he can learn more about the plight of suicide and lend a hand to prevention efforts, including in the form of a $1 million donation.
In the face of both the suicide controversy and his near-death experience, Paul has reiterated his intent to persevere. “LP lives on,” he tweeted yesterday with a smile.
