Austin-based digital media giant Rooster Teeth has unveiled the trailer for gen:LOCK, a forthcoming series that the company calls its most expansive animated production since RWBY.
First announced during the RTX conference in Austin last year, gen:LOCK takes its inspiration from the “mecha” genre, which features robots that are controlled by people. The show follows a daring fleet of pilots who operate giant, weaponized robot bodies on the losing side of a global war. The newest recruit to the classified team, a pilot named Julian Chase who hails from Brooklyn, is facing a trial by fire, according to Rooster Teeth.
Check out a teaser below. A release date for gen:LOCK has not yet been set:
The company’s biggest animated hits to date include RWBY, which is the first western anime series to be distributed in Japan, and Red Vs. Blue, which is one of the longest running web series of all time, with a total of 15 seasons since 2003.
