Digital Performance Artist Poppy Shares Trailer For YouTube Red Series

Viral YouTube performance artist and ambient musician Poppy Chan is getting her own YouTube Red series, I’m Poppy.

Debuting tomorrow at the Sundance Film Festival as part of its Indie Episodic lineup and bowing on Red this Thursday, the scripted series will follow Poppy, whose real name is Moriah Pereira, as she signs a TV deal. However, Poppy’s show kickstarts a rivalry with a mannequin named Charlotte, leading her to sign another pact with Satan himself in order to ensure that she becomes the most famous girl in the world, according to Variety. Then, after Poppy’s deal with the devil, a fanatical religious cult attempts to abduct her from the set of her show.

I’m Poppy was written and directed by Titanic Sinclair, a frequent collaborator and fellow musician who is also the brains behind Poppy’s viral YouTube brand (253 million lifetime views), which showcases her alien-like persona and serves as a commentary on internet culture. The series co-stars Samm Levine (Freaks And Geeks), Dan Hildebrand (Game Of Thrones), Brad Carter (True Detective), Kofi Boakye, and Madison Lawlor. It is executive produced by Geffen RecordsNick Groff and Jennifer Goodridge of Beyond Ideas.

Poppy released her debut studio album, Poppy.Computer in October, whereupon she also embarked on her first-ever tour.
